NRV Flusher

The combined flusher and NRV is an exciting new innovative design. From the original flusher design, which is a simple system for keeping sewers clean from blockages and the build up of FOG (fats, oli e grassi) a non-return mechanism has been added. The advantage of having a flusher function on a NRV is that it self cleans itself and removes the blockages that are associated with regular NRVs.

The NRV Flusher is available in all sizes, as below, and is a simple push-fit installation into existing manholes. As there is no need for a new inspection chamber this will be a very cost effective solution for all applications.

The Flusher can be used as a standalone unit without the NRV function in 4″ (100mm), 6″ (150mm), 9″ (225mm), 12″ (300mm) and 15″ (375mm) versions in plastic and stainless steel. In this application the top plate can be removed and an optional overflow pipe attached to aid flows when there is a storm surge.

This is a DIY solution so there are no extra costs for new manholes. Compare this to the cost of a £200 NRV plus new manhole, plus labour = circa £1,200 + VAT. Plus all your time.

The effluence builds up a head of pressure against this plate until it overcomes the weight of the counterbalance seen at the bottom of the gate.

At this point the gate will fall into its open position (see picture to the right) and allow the head of effluence to discharge upstream taking any silt, particles and small obstructions with it.

The gate then returns to its closed position and the cycle commences again.

This continual flushing action will remove blockages and start to remove and prevent the build up of fats, oli e grassi (FOG) in this section of the sewer. This cycle repeats typically between 30 and 100 times per day dependent on flow rates.
